WooCommerce Subscriptions: Grant Access Automatically from a GHL Tag (Pro)
This is the reverse of the built-in Purchase Tags feature. Instead of a WooCommerce purchase applying a GoHighLevel tag, a GoHighLevel tag automatically grants a WooCommerce Subscription — no checkout, no payment method required. It’s built for cases like complimentary access, sponsor accounts, or team members who should get the same subscription benefits as a paying customer.
Requirements
- WooCommerce Subscriptions active on the site.
- Syncly Pro, with the WooCommerce integration enabled in Syncly settings.
- A subscription product configured with an Auto-Subscribe Tag (below).
Configuring a product
Edit the subscription product and open the GoHighLevel tab in the product data panel. Under Auto-Subscribe Tags, select one or more tags that should grant this subscription. When any of those tags is applied to a contact’s matching WordPress user, Syncly creates the subscription automatically — no payment method attached.
Enable Cancel on Tag Loss if the subscription should end automatically when the qualifying tag is removed. This only ever cancels a subscription this automation itself granted — a subscription the customer actually paid for, or one granted manually, is never touched by the tag-loss check.
Variable subscription products support the same two fields per variation, so a specific variation can use different tags (or none) instead of inheriting the parent product’s configuration.
Existing users and configuration changes
Changing which tags a product auto-subscribes on doesn’t just apply going forward — Syncly re-checks existing users in the background and grants or cancels their auto-subscription to match the new configuration. See “Tag Rules: See Every Tag Automation in One Place” to review this rule alongside every other tag automation on the site.
