Custom Objects: Overview (Pro)

2 min read Updated Aug 28, 2026

Overview

GoHighLevel Custom Objects let you store structured records beyond the standard contact. Syncly can connect supported WordPress entities to Custom Objects so important business data can remain structured and usable inside GoHighLevel.

What Syncly can do

Syncly can map WordPress post types and supported data to GoHighLevel Custom Object schemas. Depending on your configuration, this can be used for products, courses, groups, memberships, orders, events, or other structured records.

  • Create and maintain Custom Object records from WordPress data.
  • Map WordPress fields to Custom Object fields.
  • Maintain relationships between supported records and contacts.
  • Use structured object data in GoHighLevel automations instead of flattening everything into contact tags.

Example use cases

  • WooCommerce: Represent orders or product-related data as structured records.
  • LearnDash: Represent courses or enrollment-related data.
  • BuddyBoss: Represent groups and their relationships.
  • Custom post types: Connect supported WordPress content to a corresponding GHL object model.

Requirements

  • Syncly Pro.
  • An active GoHighLevel OAuth connection.
  • The required GoHighLevel Custom Objects API scope enabled for your connection.
  • A Custom Object schema available in GoHighLevel or created through Syncly’s Custom Objects tools.

Basic setup

  1. Open Syncly → Custom Objects.
  2. Review or create the Custom Object schema you want to use.
  3. Select the WordPress post type or supported entity to connect.
  4. Map the relevant WordPress fields to the GHL object fields.
  5. Configure the relationship or association with contacts where supported.
  6. Save the mapping and allow Syncly’s background sync engine to process changes.

Why use Custom Objects?

Contact fields and tags are useful for simple segmentation, but they are not a good fit for every data model. Custom Objects let you keep records such as orders, memberships, courses, or groups as separate entities with their own fields and relationships.

This makes the data easier to work with when your GoHighLevel workflows need more context than a collection of tags can provide.

Sync behavior

Changes are processed through Syncly’s background sync system. This keeps object synchronization separate from the visitor’s WordPress request and provides the same queue, retry, and logging behavior used by other Syncly integrations.

For relationship-based data, Syncly can also process associations asynchronously so a change such as a group membership update does not block the frontend request.

Troubleshooting

  • Custom Objects are unavailable: Verify that the required API scope is enabled on the GoHighLevel connection.
  • Records are not appearing: Check the object mapping and Sync Logs for failed or pending jobs.
  • Fields are missing: Confirm the GHL schema contains the target fields and that the mapping is saved.
  • Associations are missing: Verify that the related contact or object exists and that the association is supported by the configured mapping.

Next steps

Use the Custom Objects documentation in this section for schema management, field mapping, WordPress entity mappings, associations, and other advanced configuration.
