LearnDash Course Workflow Enrollment lets you connect a LearnDash course to a GoHighLevel (GHL) workflow. When a learner is enrolled in the configured course, Syncly can enroll the learner’s GHL contact into the selected workflow.

This is useful for course-driven automation such as onboarding, welcome sequences, learner reminders, certification follow-up, upsells, and other CRM actions that should begin when a user receives access to a course.

What This Feature Does

Lets you select a GHL workflow from the LearnDash course settings.
Enrolls the learner’s existing GHL contact into that workflow when course enrollment occurs.
Uses Syncly’s existing GHL contact relationship for the WordPress user when available.
Processes the GHL workflow enrollment through Syncly’s background synchronization architecture.
Works alongside the existing LearnDash enrollment/completion tag automations.

Requirements

LearnDash must be installed and active.
Syncly Pro must be active.
Syncly must have a valid GoHighLevel connection.
The desired GHL workflow must exist in the connected GHL location and be published.

Before You Start

Create and publish the workflow in GoHighLevel before configuring the LearnDash course. Syncly uses the available workflows from the connected GHL location for the course-level selector.

Design the workflow so that it is appropriate for a contact entering immediately after course enrollment. The workflow itself is managed in GHL; Syncly only requests enrollment of the contact.

Configure a Course Workflow

1. Edit the LearnDash course

Open the LearnDash course that should trigger the GHL automation.

2. Open the GoHighLevel workflow settings

In the course editor, locate the Syncly/GoHighLevel automation settings.

3. Select the workflow

Select the published GHL workflow that should receive the learner when they are enrolled in the course.

4. Save the course

Update the course to save the workflow configuration.

How Enrollment Works

A user receives access to the configured LearnDash course.
Syncly detects the course enrollment event.
Syncly checks whether the course has a GHL workflow configured.
Syncly resolves the learner’s GHL contact using the contact relationship associated with the WordPress user.
Syncly queues the workflow enrollment for background processing.
The queue processor sends the workflow enrollment request to GHL.

GHL Contact Resolution

The workflow enrollment targets the learner’s existing GHL contact. Syncly uses the GHL contact relationship already associated with the WordPress user when available.

If the learner does not yet have a known GHL contact, the workflow cannot be enrolled until a usable contact relationship is available. Make sure user/contact synchronization is working correctly before troubleshooting the workflow itself.

Background Processing

Workflow enrollment is handled through Syncly’s background processing model rather than making the GHL API request directly inside the LearnDash enrollment event.

This keeps the enrollment event lightweight and allows the workflow operation to use Syncly’s normal queue processing, API handling, and retry behavior.

Workflow Requirements

The workflow must already exist in the connected GHL location.
The workflow should be published before it is selected.
Syncly enrolls a contact into the workflow; it does not create, edit, publish, or delete the GHL workflow.
The workflow should be designed around a contact entering as a result of LearnDash course enrollment.

How This Differs From Tag-Based Auto-Enrollment

LearnDash supports multiple ways to automate enrollment:

LearnDash tag-based auto-enrollment: a GHL tag is used to grant or remove access to the corresponding LearnDash course.
Course workflow enrollment: LearnDash course enrollment causes Syncly to enroll the learner’s GHL contact into a selected GHL workflow.

These features can be used independently or together. For example, a GHL tag can control course access while the resulting course enrollment starts a GHL onboarding workflow.

Course Onboarding

A learner receives access to a paid course and is immediately enrolled in a GHL workflow that sends a welcome message, orientation details, and first-step instructions.

Certification Follow-Up

A course enrollment can start a workflow that prepares the learner for future certification communication and course-related follow-up.

Advanced Course Upsell

Enrollment in a foundational course can trigger a GHL workflow that sends targeted information about an advanced course or related service.

Troubleshooting

The workflow is not available in the selector

Confirm Syncly has an active GHL connection.
Confirm the connected GHL location is correct.
Confirm the workflow exists in that location.
Confirm the workflow is published.

The course enrolled the learner but the GHL workflow did not start

Workflow enrollment is asynchronous. Check Syncly’s background sync/queue processing and Sync Logs.

Also verify that the WordPress user has a valid GHL contact relationship. Syncly enrolls the GHL contact associated with the learner; it does not replace normal contact synchronization.

The learner has no GHL contact

Resolve the underlying user/contact synchronization issue first. A workflow enrollment request requires a GHL contact ID to target.
